Location: Newcastle, NSW Australia
General contractor: Court Craft (Austr) PTY LTD
Area: 8,921m2
Surface:
1 Coat CSS Acrylic Resurfacer, CSS Acrylotex, CSS Stain Block,
2 Coats Plexichrome Ultra Performance Medium Green, CSS White Line Paint
THE PROJECT: This 30 court centre is located in 20 hectare National Park, Newcastle’s premier netball facility. The courts are split into three groups within the park. The Courts required surface grinding, crack repairs, asphalt works, and installation of the Plexipave surface followed by new line marking and court numbering.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Over 4,000 players utilise these courts throughout the year. The repairs undertaken and resurfacing the courts had to ensure player safety by reducing trip hazards and slipperiness.
Work needed to be completed ahead of the Netball season.
SOLUTION: Newcastle Netball Association President Cheryl Hernando said the upgrade would provide players with important safety improvements and a better competition surface. “The new acrylic court surface will deliver a range of benefits for players, including better traction underfoot, further cementing National Park as the premier netball facility in Newcastle.”
Medium green was chosen to complement the natural surroundings.
