THE PROJECT

The City of Dreams Mediterranean Resort is located in Limassol, Cyprus’ second-largest city and the country’s main port. This beautiful coastal city has experienced tremendous economic growth, evident from the luxurious hotels, marinas, and multiple skyscrapers along its coastline. Limassol has become the top destination for high-net-worth foreigners seeking to live in Cyprus.

The project was both ambitious and demanding, involving the creation of the largest and most prestigious tennis club and academy in Cyprus. The venue features 12 Plexipave Ultra Performance tennis courts and is home to the Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy, run by the former world No. 8 ATP player and Australian Open finalist, Wimbledon semifinalist Marcos Baghdatis.

As always, the Plexipave tennis courts needed to be professionally applied to ensure top quality, consistent bounce, and medium court pace. The project was delivered on time, and the Academy is now fully operational.

The five project requirements were successfully met by the team from S.C. Sports Surfaces:

1. Provide specifications and oversee the installation of the asphalt foundation, fencing, and lighting.
2. Set up a test court to assess the quality, application, bounce, and speed before project completion.
3. Ensure the courts met Plexipave’s high-quality standards.
4. Maintain medium court pace.
5. Adhere to the strict project timeline.

As the largest tennis academy in Cyprus, featuring 12 Plexipave tennis courts and hosting the famous Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy, the facility has made a significant impact on the local tennis community and attracted foreign visitors to the City of Dreams resort. The project has also garnered substantial media and social media attention.
