From Track Builder to Plexitrac Pioneer
In the early 80s, fresh out of college, Paul Spongberg had a decision to make: take a corporate job or stick with what some would consider a summer job, doing running track construction. Paul chose the latter and the rest is history.
We are bittersweet to announce that, after more than 40 years in the industry, and 26 years with California Sports Surfaces, Paul will be retiring at the end of the year. Paul has served as our regional manager for Canada and the Northeastern US since 1998. He has brought unparalleled knowledge to our team and no one has done more to advance the Plexitrac brand than Paul has. Of course, his blunt style and acerbic wit has left a lasting impression… no one has ever had to wonder what Paul really thinks.
Paul is passionate fan of all sports, live music and is, most notably, a scratch golfer, so he will have no shortage of plans as he retires to South Carolina with his wife Patty and son PJ.
We will genuinely miss this lovable curmudgeon and lifelong friend and wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter.
